Ronan Curtis confirms to LeagueofIreland.ie move to Portsmouth is complete

 

Derry City and Ireland u21 star Ronan Curtis confirmed to LeagueofIreland.ie that his move to Portsmouth was complete.

Speaking after his sides defeat to Dundalk last night, Curtis confirmed the move saying;

‘Im going away tomorrow but my heart is still with Derry City but I am leaving on the 8th of June.’

When asked what the destination, Curtis replied ‘Portstmouth’.

He mentioned that ‘It is an exciting club to move to and looking forward to getting pre season started.’

He went on to say that ‘I served my time at Derry City and played 5 years here and wish to thank Kenny Shiels and all the staff’.

Reading are apparently looking to hijack the move.

There will be a fee involved which is expected to be in the region of £100k.

  1. £100k is nothing for a fantastic young talent who has years of first team football played. Something needs to be done in Irish soccer to stop our clubs being robbed blind by English teams!

  2. 52 week contract would be a start, but most young players see their best chance of progress being in a professional set up. Even non-league teams in England have better facilities than most LOI clubs. best of luck to him
