Jamie McGrath on the EA Sports Cup: We don’t want to pass up any opportunity to win any silverware. We want to win everything

Speaking ahead of the trip to Dublin, midfielder Jamie McGrath told dundalkfc.com that while he knows that the side can play better than Friday night, he was pleased to get the win.

“It was a scrappy enough game and we were happy to just get the three points. It wasn’t our best performance at all but we battled well. We know we can play better.

It showed that when we are not at our best that we can hang in there and still get the results that we need. We showed a different side of us tonight and we were delighted to win.

“We want to carry it on into the next week with the two games. “

The 21 year-old feels that the goals early in the second half helped settle the team down and felt they were comfortable seeing the game out in the end after the hoops had pulled a goal back.

“Rovers are a good side but overall I think we deserved to win. We got the goals early in the second half and that settled it for us.

We knew it was going to be a difficult closing when they got the goal and they were going to throw the kitchen sink at us but we controlled it and managed to see it out.

“It’s early days so far and we are still finding our own form but we are happy with how things are going. “

There’s a change of code on Monday and McGrath pointed to the importance of the EA SPORTS CUP however is anticipating a tough encounter against the Saints.

The EA SPORTS CUP is very important to us. The manager has ingrained in us to win every game. We don’t want to pass up any opportunity to win any silverware.

We want to win everything. All of want to win and we know it will be difficult against Pat’s because they are a good side but we will be going out to win and hopefully we can get through to the next round.
