Josh O’Hanlon signs for Cork City from St Patrick’s Athletic

Cork City FC are delighted to announce the signing of Josh O’Hanlon.

The 22-year-old joins after spending last season with St. Patrick’s Athletic, while he has also had spells at Longford Town and Bournemouth, among others. Speaking to, the striker said: “I’m thrilled. They’re the league winners and it is great to be at such a big club. I am delighted it is over the line now, so I can get my head down and get ready to start pre-season.”

“I work hard, I get about and I am a problem for defenders. Every game, it is about hard work and leaving everything on the pitch. The fans at Turner’s Cross are unbelievable. They fill the ground every game, there’s only one club in Cork and they come out in their numbers, so I can’t wait to play there.”

City boss John Caulfield welcomed the latest addition to his squad, saying: “I am very happy. Josh has tremendous potential. He went to Bournemouth when he was 17, came back on loan to Longford and did really well there; he actually caused us quite a few problems in some games we played against Longford at the time. He then moved to St. Pat’s for the 2017 season, but it probably didn’t work out as he would have hoped.”

“He is 22, big, strong, mobile and very quick. He is really looking forward to coming down to Cork and we are looking forward to having him. He has a lot of talent and it is up to us to see can we release that talent. It is a massive challenge for him and he knows that, but he is coming into a fantastic environment with a brilliant bunch of players, so he has everything to play for.”

“There is an opportunity for him and we will be pushing him all the way, because we can see his strengths. He is looking for an opportunity and everything is here for him, so he needs to be ready and he needs to take that chance. I have confidence in him, I’ve met him a few times and I know he is really looking forward to it.”
