Wednesday night sees European action return to the UCD Bowl once more as our under 19s entertain Molde FK of Norway in the first leg of the first round of the Domestic Champions Path in the UEFA Youth League. After winning the SSE Airtricity Under 19 Legue, qualification for the competition was finally secured at the end of August, when Maribor beat Hapoel Be’er Sheva to advance to the Champion’s League Group Stages.
Speaking ahead of the game manager Maciej Tarnogrodzki said his side are determined to go out and prove themselves and lay down a marker by getting a positive result in the first leg.
“The team is focused and ready to play. We play at home so we want to go and produce a good performance and get a positive result.”
It has been a very successful season for our under 19s so far, finishing runners up in the Southern Division to qualify for the league quarter finals, while also finishing runners up in the Enda McGuill Cup after a 120th minute goal from Dundalk saw them claim the cup with a 2-1 victory after extra time. The league quarter finals will see us host Drogheda United on the 11th October at 7.30pm in the UCD Bowl. Hopefully there will be many more big nights to come for this talented squad of players.
Tickets for the game will be available from the ticket office at the UCD Bowl on Wednesday and are priced €10 for adults, and €5 for concession tickets (Students with valid ID, and OAPs) with all children under 14 being admitted for free when accompanied by an adult.
