Wexford captain Graham Doyle retires

Wexford FC have announced that their captain and goalkeeper Graham Doyle will retire.

Doyle will retire after next weeks clash with Athlone Town.

Speaking to the Wexford site, Doyle said, “Unfortunately the time has come for me to retire from football. I just want to thank everyone who has helped me in my time with Wexford. I would have liked to have seen out the season, but injury has prevented that. I’ve struggled since the first game of the season with groin and back injuries and ultimately that’s why I have to stop playing.

I really want to thank Damian for the faith he has shown in me, and I wish him all the best for the rest of his career in football, of which I hope most of it will be in Ferrycarrig Park. He will deliver what we all want if given the time.

Thank you again for all of your support”
