Prediction for Galway United v Shamrock Rovers

Galway United vs Shamrock Rovers

Monday 13th March 2017

Kick Off 7pm – Eamon Deacy Park

Prediction:  1-2 Shamrock Rovers Win

Galway have lost the last seven competitive games between the teams with Rovers unbeaten in the last quarter century of matches when these clubs have gone head to head.

United boss Shane Keegan has at least one recent win over the Hoops. Last season, when he was in charge of Wexford Youths his team beat Rovers 2-0 at Ferrycarrig Park in May. His team lost the two other matches in Tallaght 2-0 and 3-1.

It was a disappointing defeat on Friday night for Rovers when Derry City came to Tallaght and left with the win.  Rovers will be looking to bounce back with a win tonight.

Graham Burke is suspended for this game, with Trevor Clarke doubtful.

Galway are without Paul Sinnott, with Kevin Devaney and Conor Melody doubtful.

Shamrock Rovers are a side with a lot of quality and will have most of the possession tonight.  While they struggled to break down the Derry defence on Friday night, I believe they will have too much for Galway tonight and my prediction is that Rovers will pick up a 1-2 much needed win.
