Cobh Ramblers Charlie Fleming’s best all time XI he has played with

Darryl Geraghty

This weeks Leagueofireland.ie feature comes from Cobh Ramblers young defender and star of the future Charlie Fleming.

Despite the tender age of 18, the talented full back has played with some excellent players and was kind enough to provide us with the best one to eleven of who he has graced the field with, so far.

“Before I start I just want to cover myself by saying there were so many quality players that I left out but it’s a hard thing to pick a best 11, a lot harder than I thought! But here it goes.”

Formation: 4-3-3

Goalkeeper: Paul Hunt
Hunty is a great all round keeper, goes about his business very professionally and helps me out a lot, moody from time to time but I’ll leave him off cause he’s old.

Left Back: Shane O’Connor
Shane o Connor (Waterford) probably the best player I’ve played with, can play anywhere, absolutely loves the sound of his own voice though.

Centre Back: Kev Mulcahy
Kev (Ex-CobhRamblers) could do both sides of the game, technically quality and would bully strikers. Loved a good moan too.

Centre Back: Brian Fitzgerald
Only played with Fitzy once in a friendly and that was enough to show just how good he is. Top drawer and could tell immediately he was a quality centre half.

Right Back: Connor McCarthy
I was lucky enough played with Connor on the Munster team, a strong lad whos making strides in the Cork City side every year, will go far no doubt.

Right Wing: Stevey Christopher
With me at Cobh Ramblers technically probably the best player I’ve played with, both footed and a good pal of mine had to get him in!

Centre Midfield: Alec Byrne
At Cork City, played a year above his age and was their standout player. Proving what I knew already, a quality player.

Centre Midfield: Craig Donellon
The kid has the worst barnet in the league of Ireland without a doubt but he can play to be fair so despite the hairdo will do a job in the middle!

Centre Midfield: Gary Comerford
At Waterford, absolute Ox in the middle of the park would run all day and has a weapon of a left leg, in a good way. The engine.

Left Midfield: Davin O’Neil
Only played with Dav briefly and doesn’t natural play of the left but had to get him in the team, one of the best players to come out of Cobh and would do an incredible job on this side, no doubt.

Forward: Aaron Drinan
I played with drinan throughout schoolboys on different teams and he is clinical in front of goal. At Cork City now and is ripping up the under 19 national league every year and one I’m tipping for huge things in the future.
