1: Game starts at a blistering pace as John Mountney has a shot blocked on its way in by the keeper
4: Paddy Barrett has a howler at the back giving Darren Meenan a one on one at goal but the Dubliner drags his shot wide
6: Big chance Dundalk as Massey’s header from a Mountney free kick goes just past the post.
10: Controversial… Dundalk goalkeeper Gabriel Sava makes a huge mistake taking too long with a clearance and when he does the ball hits Michael O’Connor and goes into the net, only for the ref to rule it out for hitting his arm.
14: Good chance for Dundalk down the right flank as John Mountney plays in Sean Gannon who takes it around his man only to have his cross blocked.
16: Brian Gartland’s header on the Shamrock Rovers goal was deflected to the back post where Dane Massey was on hand to shoot but has his attempt brilliantly blocked by Chencinski.
18: The first yellow of the game is given as Rover’s Trevor Clarke takes down John Mountney on the wing,

32: Goal Dundalk! Robbie Benson scores for Dundalk
38: Dundalk well on top now and have another chance after some great work from Paddy McEleney puts new signing Michael Duffy through on goal only to have a Rovers player make a last ditch tackle to put the ball out for a corner.
43: Great play down the right from Dundalk’s McEleney with some Ronaldo – esque skills to get around his man but runs the ball too far and goes for a goal kick.
44: Big chance for Rovers as Brandon Miele has a free kick just outside the area that goes slightly past the post of Sava’s goal.
Half Time: Dundalk 1-0 Shamrock Rovers
45: And we are back underway…. no changes to either side
48: Great run from Michael O’Connor from midfield as he drifts 20 yards through the middle but just as he pull the trigger to shoot, Dundalk captain Stephen O’Donnell makes a block
51: Goal Dundalk!! The Champions go 2-0 up from a header by Ciaran Kilduff after a fantastic ball from the right wing from Paddy McEleney.

66: Conor Clifford makes his Dundalk debut as he comes on for captain Stephen O’Donnell
71: Jamioe McGrath comes on for Dundalk in replace of Michael Duffy
75: Game on… Shamrock Rovers pull one back to Graham Burke
78: Goalscorer Graham Burke is stupidly sent on for a lunge into Jamie McGrath – absolutely scandalous tackle
84: To run down the clock Dundalk make their final sub as they bring off Paddy McEleney for defender Niclas Vemmelund
86: Just as he comes on Niclas Vemmelund makes a 50 yard run up the left hand side with blistering pace and power and is unfortunate to to be pulled up for a free
89: Meenan is taken down just on the edge of the Dundalk area but the free kick comes to nothing
