In a friendly fixture with approximately 40 fans and only 5 media representatives watching on, Dundalk made light work of Warrenpoint Town at Mlltown winning 4-0 in a warm up tie for their upcoming Europa League clash with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel next Thursday.
In a clash of men vs boys Dundalk got their fist goal on the 11th minute when Ronan Finn rolled the ball past Warrenpoint’s keeper Maguire after he fumbled a Robbie Benson effort.
Dundalk doubled the lead just after half time when substitute Ciaran Kilduff came off the bench and with his first touch smashed an effort from the edge of the area into the top of the net.
The third came only minutes later when a Patrick McEleney corner was headed back out to him and he skillfully took the ball past a few Point players and laid it off to Brian Gartland to put it into the empty net.
Just after the hour there was bad news for Dundalk as midfielder Chris Shields came off holding his hamstring which puts a big question mark over his availability for next weeks game with Maccabi.
Dundalk’s fourth goal was quite a comical sight as, when Ciaran Kilduff was about to pull the trigger from inside the area, Point defender Stephen Moan came through him and smashed the ball past his own keeper.
