Dundalk just need one win in three for title as Cork City fall at the final hurdle (again)

Dundalk FC all but sealed their third league title in a row with a convincing 3-0 victory away to Longford Town tonight at the City Calling Stadium.

In a game that they were expected to easily get the three points it came as little shock when Dane Massey put the Champions ahead.

Goals by David McMillan and Daryl Horgan finished the game off which means if Dundalk beat Bohemians in Oriel Park on Sunday they will claim the title.

Unfortunately in every race their has to be a runner up and again this season it would seem it will be John Caulfields Cork City.

After losing to Dundalk last week it was pivotal that Caulfields men finished with an 100% winning record if they stood any chance of winning this years title.

St Patrick’s Athletic in Richmond Park tonight killed the Leesiders title hopes beating them 3-1.

It’s not mathematically complete but you would expect Dundalk to win one of the last three games.
