Sam Allardyce did his first press conference today as England manager and referenced his time at Limerick FC as a success.
In 1991 ‘Big Sam’ took on the player manager role at Limerick and guided the club to the First Division title before leaving for Preston.
“I’ve been a success at every club I’ve been at, starting with Limerick FC, by the way,” Allardyce said as his record was questioned by some journalists.
A nice mention for the Munster club who ironically will be more than likely winning the First Division this year as well.

There’s a real buzz about the League of Ireland the last few weeks. With Cork and Pats getting past the first round and then Cork going a round further in the Europa League by knocking out a team ranked far, far ahead of them; Dundalk getting a great victory in the Champions League; The prize money has gone up as well which makes it even better news; all the buzz around the Euros with Irish players central to the ‘success’; and Michael O’Neill working miracles with Northern Ireland having done so with Rovers; now the constant reference of the new England national manager having started his managerial career in the LOI.
