Paddy McCourt is set for a return to Ireland after Luton Town announced his departure from the club.
Could there be a League of Ireland return?
The 32-year-old reached a mutual agreement with Luton to terminate his contract after making it clear to manager Nathan Jones that he wanted to be closer to his family in Ireland.
“Paddy has had to face up to some personal problems in recent weeks and at the end of the season he came to me about his future and it was soon clear to me that he wanted to return to Northern Ireland to be closer to his family and to play there again,” Jones told Luton Town’s official website.
“It wasn’t a straightforward decision for me – Paddy has done well for us, but in the end we reached an agreement and he goes with my blessing.”
McCourt also had a spell at Shamrock Rovers before being sold to Derry City.
