Most League of Ireland people will be reading this article saying to themselves ‘Who is that?’
Let us tell you.
LeagueofIreland.ie’s player watch has noticed Faissal El Bakhtaoui, who is a 23 year old Moroccan striker that is currently playing for Dunfermline in Scotland’s League One.
The Moroccan has only really been brought to other clubs attentions this season with his incredible scoring record this season for the Pars.
El Bakhtaoui has scored a brace in four consecutive games this season and has over 20 goals this season already in total.
He has been noted as a pacey, strong striker who is great in the air.
Could someone of that standard score 20 league goals for a League of Ireland club? Yes is the answer.
There was rumours that Hartlepool had a bid of 40k rejected by Dunfermline in January.
It is the signings that are unknown in the League that could make the difference and be the difference between a title / runners up or a European spot and nothing…
Would the offer of European football (i.e. Dundalk, Shamrock Rovers, Cork City or St Pats) lure the Moroccan?
In League of Ireland terms this could be a gem of a signing for any club.
