
Mark ‘Maxi Kavanagh has officially been named as the Leagueofireland.ie LOI Character of the year 2015.
The award was put together to give the people that give back to the league the recognition they deserve.
There were so many candidates nominated and the shortlist was finalised and brought down to only seven nominations.
The nominations included the winner Mark ‘Maxi’ Kavanagh, Bohs player Keith Buckley, Shamrock Rovers striker Danny North, Waterford United goalkeeper Robert Birdsall, the Dublin Derby facts twitter account, Longford’s Pajo Flynn & the Rebel Radio presenters in Cork.
With the full votes counted (1729 votes) below is the full numbers and percentages.
1st – Mark ‘Maxi’ Kavanagh – 793 Votes – 46%
2nd – Keith Buckley – 293 Votes – 17%
3rd – Rebel Radio Presenters (Kevin Galvin and David Kent) – 162 Votes – 9%
4th – Pajo Flynn – 136 Votes – 8%
5th – Robert Birdsall – 124 Votes – 7%
6th – Dublin Derby Facts – 34 Votes – 2%
7th – Danny North – 29 Votes – 2%
On winning the award Mark said ‘I would like to thank all people that voted believed in Dundalk over the last few years through the tougher times, and that I would like to dedicate the award to the late Paul ‘Molly’ Conroy.’
