Can the Dennehy brothers help St Patrick’s Athletic challenge for the title?

With the capture of the two Dennehy brothers Billy & Darren, it certainly shows St Patrick’s Athletics’ ambition to challenge for the title once again.

Billy can certainly be mentioned as one of the top attacking midfielders in the entire league and can win a game on his own with his brilliant movement, eye for a pass and goal scoring abilities which is something you could argue that St Pat’s have not replaced since Chris Forrester left for Peterborough.

Darren Dennehy is a different player to brother Billy and would be referenced as a rock at the back which could be a benefit to the club if he can strengthen the back four and help the club with extra clean sheets for 2016.

Speaking to Pat’s official website, Saints boss Liam Buckley said this of the signings; “I’m very pleased that we will have both the lads in our group next season,”

“They will both strengthen our squad and help us compete for honours next season. Darren has really developed over the last few seasons with Cork City and is a real physical presence in defence so we are excited to add him to the squad

.”Billy is a top professional and will be a good example to our younger players who can learn from him. He has vast experience of playing in the league and in European competition too having been at Cork, Shamrock Rovers and Derry so we know he will be a great addition to our squad.”
